The client required a modern four bedroom home, with open plan living spaces, on the outskirts of Creetown. This unique site lies within a wooded area and has a gentle slope, offering spectacular views across Wigtown Bay.
The main body of the house is two storey, with the living accommodation over two levels, and the garage is single storey. The garage roof extends towards the main house to create a covered carport at the main entrance, which offers shelter and allows the driveway to continue and re-join the access road.
The construction will be timber frame and wall finishes include cedar cladding and rendered blockwork. The roof construction will comprise glue-laminated ridge beams and raised tie trusses, to allow upper floor rooms to benefit from high ceilings. The upper floor lounge is ‘cut-back’ with a large balcony wrapping around the south west and north west elevations, and a chimney clad in slate serves both the ground and upper floor wood burning stoves.
